3 Ways To Get The Kids Off The Phones and Into the Summer RV Trip
Option-1:
Option-2:
It seems like we all spend a lot of time staring at the little glowy boxes we hold in our hands, including the kids. It’s no secret that the abundance of games, media, and other entertainment makes phones hard to put down. But, most health experts agree that taking a break from screen time can be good for our well-being. The following tips may help you get the kids off the phone willingly while on your summer RV trip at one of Sunlight Resorts’ luxury RV resorts.
1. Plan Activities For The Trip
Smartphones look less attractive when there’s a lot of fun stuff to do. Hiking, theme parks, and local attractions are an excellent way to get some adventure, but Sunlight Resorts does some of the planning for you. In addition to our sports courts like pickleball, bocce ball, and shuffleboard, we have many event weekends every month. Below are some of the upcoming events you can look forward to at our Resort at Canopy Oaks in Lake Wales, FL.
Spring Weekends:
April 22nd – 24th, April 29th – May 1st, May 13th – 15th, May 20th – 22nd
Each weekend features live entertainment at the Tiki Bar, tie-dye shirts, boozy and kids bingo, trivia games, scavenger hunts, Family Splash Bash, and much more!
Mother’s Day Weekend:
May 6th – May 8th
Give Mom a break and send her to our Mom’s Only Craft and Sip event featuring bottomless specialty mimosas or to the Wine Down tasting event. Make family memories on the Silly Selfies with Mom Scavenger Hunt, Kids vs. Mom Relay Races, and Who Knows Mom Best Game Show. Plus, kids’ crafts include gifts made specifically for Mom.
2. Invite Friends And Family
One of the things kids do on phones is communicate with friends. From texting to social media, like it or not, part of the digital age sees chatting as a form of “hanging out.” One of the best ways to get the kids to forget about those screens is to give them the opportunity for live interaction with fellow friends and family members. So why not invite friends and family along on your summer RV trip?
Unfortunately, friends and extended family members don’t all have an RV of their own. That’s where Sunlight Resorts has you covered. Those vacationing at the Resort at Canopy Oaks this spring and summer can stay in one of our many rental cottages, which sleep up to 6, has a full bathroom, supplied kitchen, furnished living room, and a front porch area.
3. Bring The Pool Supplies
If there’s one place that gets the electronics out of the kid’s hands, it’s the pool. All of our resorts, from the Resort at Canopy Oaks in Lake Wales to Champions Run in Ocala (Opening June 1st, 2022), have wonderful resort-style swimming pools complete with deck chairs, umbrellas, and a splashing good time. You can make the experience extra fun at the Resort at Canopy Oaks by renting a private pool cabana, so you and the family have a shady spot to relax in while not in the water.
For a fun, safe pool experience, be sure to pack the following:
- Bathing suits
- Sunscreen
- Extra towels
- Plastic refillable water bottles
- Swim goggles
- Pool noodles
- Water blasters made for pool use
- Inflatable balls
